Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years

Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to handle repetitive tasks and perform physically demanding duties
- The candidates should be able to pay attention to detail and work in a combination of sitting, standing, walking
- The candidates should be able to bend, crouch and kneel when required

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs and assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties and bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children and maintain daycare equipment and perform storytelling
- The candidates should be able to synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
- The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity and engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
- The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits and prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods and observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisors
- The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors and demonstrate knowledge of licensing regulations and establish guidelines for behaviour
- The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children and plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
- The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
