Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of accredited nursing program
Experience: Candidates should have two years of experience working as a nurse
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts, which are based on operational needs, with shifts varying in length according to the event at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers
- The candidates should be available for shifts that include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- The candidates should be prepared to travel for mobile events in Newfoundland, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The candidates should have the physical capability to lift weights up to 10 kg 22 lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should leverage their ability to communicate effectively with donors to conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build and promote a positive donor experience and previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching
- The candidates should utilize their superb people skills to provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation
- The candidates should draw on their knowledge and experience to provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, acting as team lead for collection events
- The candidates should use their excellent interpersonal skills to work in a diverse team environment, assisting in the collection of whole blood and/or apheresis blood components, which save lives daily
- The candidates should assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for use at mobile events within our communities
- The candidates should have a certification in First Aid and CPR
- The candidates should have technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should have to support a positive donor experience for second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to support Canadian Blood Services by assisting in the collection of donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products that save lives every day
- The candidates should be able to ensure adherence to all safety protocols during the collection of blood and blood products
- The candidates should be able to carry out all required documentation related to blood collection
- The candidates should be able to play an integral part in building and promoting a positive donor experience
- The candidates should be able to encourage donations from donors
