Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have Graduation with an accredited Bachelor of Social Work Degree
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be prepared for occasional lifting or physical strength required to lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
- The candidates should regularly sit to consult with clients, conduct therapeutic sessions, and work on the computer
- The candidates should work in awkward or cramped body positions; they may push, pull, and set up furniture for group work, and drive to conduct home visits with clients
- The candidates should regularly use fine finger/precision work on a computer
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW)
- The candidates should possess knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to, Mental Health Care and Treatment Act, Adult Protection Act, Advanced Health Care Directives Act, Medical Assistance in Dying, and the Children, Youth and Families Act
- The candidates should have knowledge of community resources, systems, and programs and demonstrate the ability to direct, supervise, and mentor students
- The candidates should demonstrate clinical skills in assessment and interventions with individuals, families, and groups
- The candidates should demonstrate analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
- The candidates should demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively within an interprofessional environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and a satisfactory record of work performance and attendance and should be aware that conditions of employment include the use of a private vehicle
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide professional Social Work services within the Community Support Program
- The candidates should be able to offer counselling, assessment, and referral services to clients
- The candidates should be able to manage caseloads effectively and efficiently
- The candidates should be able to prepare and analyze reports related to client progress and program effectiveness
- The candidates should be able to provide field instruction and supervision to Social Work students
- The candidates should be able to report to the Regional Manager for Community Support and maintain accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Social Work
- The candidates should be able to uphold professional integrity and address practice issues in accordance with established standards
