Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the operation of technical systems within the theatre

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have including some supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidates should possess a valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving history, an Emergency First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • The candidates should have a Live Performance Electrical Certificate (LPEC), a scissor lift certification
  • The candidates should have a Class B-R – Full Entertainment Field Safety Representative (FSR)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to engage, organize, plan, schedule, and oversee production staff, rental clients, contractors, and others involved in the operation, maintenance, repair, and usage of technical systems, plan and organize festival and venue production requirements
  • The candidates should be able to procure architectural drawings for temporary on-site venues and stages, monitor staffing levels and participate in hiring new production staff
  • The candidates should be able to establish operational guidelines and maintenance requirements for equipment and systems
  • The candidates should be able to ensure maintenance, cleaning, and inspections are carried out efficiently and safely, advise and assist in the production of client rental events and presentations
  • The candidates should be able to establish technical requirements and disseminate event information to production staff accordingly, maintain the Surrey Civic Theatres Capital Replacement Plan
  • The candidates should be able to monitor departmental budgeting and expenditures and supervise the maintenance and upgrades of theatre venues and their equipment
  • The candidates should be able to develop, train, and maintain safety procedures for venue evacuation during emergencies and implement a health and safety program for all aspects of theatre operations, including rigging, fly systems, and electrical systems
