Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of completed Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have over two years of experience in a performing arts theatre environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold certification in Fall Protection, Lift Operation, WHMIS, and First Aid
  • The candidates should possess a valid, non-probationary Ontario Class G driver’s license and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • The candidates should demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
  • The candidates should be able to work independently or as part of a team, wear and use appropriate personal safety equipment and clothing

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with clients, professionals, City of Brampton staff, and community performing arts groups to ensure the efficient load-in run, and load-out of lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video, and stage equipment
  • The candidates should be able to operate theatre systems and equipment, including the transportation, setup, installation, and striking of all production elements at City Theatres, scene shops, and other event locations
  • The candidates should be able to perform preventative and on-demand maintenance on theatre systems, tools, and equipment while maintaining accurate inventory records of all City theatre
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the setup of all Professional Series production requirements in accordance with technical riders, including lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video, wardrobe, and staging
  • The candidates should be able to generate show-related reports and maintain detailed maintenance logs for equipment and systems
  • The candidates should be able to provide guidance and training to part-time and contract staff during the setup, execution, and teardown of performances and events, in coordination with Technical Stage Hands, Supervisors, or Coordinators
  • The candidates should be able to monitor performances and events to ensure adherence to City policies, building security protocols, and contractual agreements
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and clean working environment by performing regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and garbage removal from the stage and surrounding areas
  • The candidates should be able to design and implement lighting, audio, set, and video configurations for a variety of productions and events perform additional related duties
