Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Credentials: Child development worker (ECE level 2), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check and Child Abuse Registry check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be able to perform bending, crouching, and kneeling

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be punctual, dependable, and reliable, demonstrating their commitment to their duties
  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and show interpersonal awareness, contributing positively to team dynamics

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties, bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, and maintain daycare equipment
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children while supervising staff, trainees, or volunteers
  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling activities, lead activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the development of children and keep records
  • The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity while engaging them in activities like storytelling and crafts
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, as well as prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, and submit written observations on children
  • The candidates should be able to discuss the progress and problems of children at staff meetings and attend these meetings to ensure effective communication
  • The candidates should have knowledge of licensing regulations and be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
