Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 seasons of demonstrated supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should maintain personal weight standards as required for the crew type and be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures
  • The candidates should keep current on emerging issues and take in-house training and certification and fly in aircraft (fixed-wing and rotary)
  • The candidates should be willing to work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
  • The candidates should be able to travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations and participate in Incident Command System positions
  • The candidates should be able to work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat, and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions
  • The candidates should obtain and maintain certification and training for crew positions to meet operational requirements

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have 4 seasons of forest fire-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidates should hold a valid OFA Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement and successfully completed the pre-employment fitness standard and hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to lead and oversee the operations of assigned initial attack fire crews, ensuring high performance and safe work practices during fire suppression activities and project work
  • The candidates should be able to play a crucial role in keeping communities within the 100 Mile House Fire Zone safe and resilient through wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts
  • The candidates should be able to establish a new initial attack program, working within a supportive and diverse team environment to make a meaningful impact on the citizens of British Columbia
  • The candidates should be able to be part of building something new, with the added benefit of working out of a new facility
