Job Description:

Position: Family physician
No of Vacancies: 2
Salary: $300,000 to $400,000 annually (To be negotiated) for 40 to 45 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract Full time
Location: Edmonton, AB
Shifts: Day, Weekend, Flexible Hours, To be determined, Morning
Supervision: Working groups

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as earned doctorate degree
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP) and Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to collect medical information from patients, family members, or other medical professionals, examine patients’ health condition to identify diseases and injuries and help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits and reshape their approach to wellness
  • The candidates should be able to order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment, consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health and prescribe and administer medications and treatments
  • The candidates should be able to perform and assist in routine surgery, inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases and participate in health care policy and planning
  • The candidates should be able to advise patients on health care, report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases to government authorities and co-ordinate or manage primary patient care
  • The candidates should be able to provide acute care management, provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues and provide emergency care
