Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have 2 or more years of previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should demonstrate leadership presence, with the drive and commitment to career advancement
  • The candidates should have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to drill down to understand root causes and resolve complex issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have previous railway experience as a conductor; a locomotive engineer qualification
  • The candidates should possess a valid driver’s license, possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise instructions and directions, including over the radio
  • The candidates should be able to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations, and other written or printed material in English
  • The candidates should have previous experience conducting investigations and analyzing, understanding, and resolving local issues related to interpreting variances to operating protocols
  • The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance yard and road fluidity to achieve the Local Service Operating Plan (LOSP) and Operating Plan (OP)
  • The candidates should be able to oversee all train movements within the yard and mainline, ensuring safe and tactical execution of the LOSP and OP through active supervision and cross-departmental communication
  • The candidates should be able to take accountability for safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics within their terminal
  • The candidates should be able to lead safety compliance efforts, provide corrective actions as needed, and promote a culture of safety through regular safety discussions
  • The candidates should be able to handle investigations in accordance with company policies and the collective bargaining agreement and recommend corrective action plans
  • The candidates should be able to conduct efficiency tests, train rides, and safety-related activities to support safe and efficient operations, and attend derailments, incidents, or injuries when on duty
  • The candidates should be able to manage inventory for terminals and the line of road within their area of responsibility
  • The candidates should be able to cach and mentor Train & Engine employees to support performance and development
  • The candidates should be able to occasionally operate trains and maintain all required certifications and licenses Canadian Rail Operating Rules, GCOR, Engineer) as per industry regulations
