Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have 2 years of related maintenance experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to maintain, inspect, and repair permanent fences, as well as set up and remove temporary fences
- The candidates should be able to maintain, repair, and ensure the functioning of gates, including tasks such as post holes, hinges, and latches
- The candidates should be able to maintain, paint, and replace signs
- The candidates should be willing and able to work variable shifts and hours, which may include weekends, and extended shifts (8-10 hours) for snow removal
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have knowledge of airport operations, procedures, requirements, and major components (e.g., aerodrome, grounds, buildings, equipment, vehicle maintenance), as well as strong communication and math skills
- The candidates should meet Transport Canada regulations for operating airport vehicles and machinery by completing in-house training
- The candidates should hold a valid Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Certificate (Aeronautical)
- The candidates should possess a valid Airport Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) or attain it within 10 days of employment
- The candidates should hold valid CPR and emergency first aid certification or attain it upon employment
- The candidates should have knowledge of and the ability to comply with policies, procedures, and Transport Canada regulations/guidelines (e.g., manual of airport traffic directives, radio telephone operator handbook, federal aviation regulations, security regulations, aerodrome standards, and recommended practices)
- The candidates should have an understanding of emergency response procedures and the ability to assist in emergency response situations
- The candidates should possess a valid D driver’s license with Z endorsement and an acceptable driving record to operate corporate vehicles
- The candidates should have the ability to read and understand instructions, schedules, reports, regulations, procedures, equipment manuals, and other material related to flight movements. They should also have the ability to read and interpret aviation weather terminology and write maintenance and procedure reports
- The candidates should demonstrate communication skills to respond to inquiries from tenants and the public, exchange information with contractors, tenants, and other airport staff, and participate as effective team members
- The candidates should be willing and able to work variable shifts and hours, which may include weekends, and extended shifts (8-10 hours) for snow removal
- The candidates should provide an acceptable Transport Canada Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) within the probationary period and/or as a condition of employment
- The candidates should be able to support and demonstrate the Region’s values
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform maintenance activities such as cleaning floors, windows, washrooms, and other janitorial functions; moving furniture; and repairing interior walls, trim, and fixtures. They should also be able to change light bulbs
- The candidates should be able to perform ground maintenance and landscaping tasks, including maintaining and repairing landscape features such as picnic tables, benches, garbage containers, and recycling depots
- The candidates should be able to control and remove foreign objects, identify and eliminate sources of foreign objects, and report to management. They should also be able to remove garbage and sweep as needed
- The candidates should be able to monitor and control wildlife movement as directed by management
- The candidates should be able to control vegetation, trim hedges, and remove vegetation/debris from drainage ditches
- The candidates should be able to operate aviation radio and monitor frequency to maintain continuous contact with air traffic control and aviation traffic. They should also monitor radio communication with other staff
- The candidates should be able to provide radio escorts for non-regional staff as required and conduct detailed airfield condition inspections, reporting deficiencies, occurrences, and adverse conditions to management and air traffic control
- The candidates should be able to have contact with tenants to exchange information, provide assistance, and perform maintenance/repairs
- The candidates should be able to operate tractors, plow trucks with attachments, loaders, and small equipment such as trimmers, chainsaws, generators, and snow blowers
- The candidates should be able to clear snow and ice from various areas including parking lots, roads, hangar areas, parking aprons, taxiways, runways, graded edges, threshold ends, and instrument landing system gravel pads. They should also shovel snow-buried runway lights
- The candidates should be able to assist with special events by providing assistance with barricades, security, and display cases
- The candidates should be able to assist with security per Transport Canada requirements
- The candidates should be able to clean, lubricate, and perform minor repairs on vehicles, lawn care and snow removal equipment, and tools and equipment. They should report the need to repair or replace corporate tools or equipment
- In the event of an emergency, the candidates should be able to provide emergency responses as required until emergency response team(s) arrive
- The candidates should be able to perform some duties of the Airport Operations Specialist as required
- The candidates should be able to perform related duties as assigned
