Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have standard educational qualifications such as Grade 10 or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have 1 year experience in servicing vehicles and equipment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be capable of passing a job-related physical abilities evaluation and a City medical examination and Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of duties
- The candidates should be able to wear a custom-fit respirator for extended periods of time
- The candidates should have the ability to pass Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.), a timed upper body strength and mobility test, and a pre-employment City medical examination
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have tow and recovery experience and training and demonstrate technical skills related to vehicles and equipment
- The candidates should exhibit a good work ethic and a willingness/ability to learn and mentor on the job and update skills and Skilled drivers with the ability to maneuver large vehicles and equipment in and out of wash bays
- The candidates should possess the ability to understand, communicate, read, and write English at a level needed to meet job-related tasks and safety requirements and strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- The candidates should possess proficiency in entering data using the Fleet Management System software (M5) and experience in software applications such as Google, Email, and online OEM manuals
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive, and service-minded style and excellent customer service and communication skills
- The candidates should have a valid Alberta Class 3 license with Air Brake endorsement (or provincial equivalent) and a Class 1 license and obtain and maintain a City of Edmonton Driver’s permit

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to wash the outside of various types of vehicles, ensuring thorough cleaning, including the undercarriage, with the ability to crouch and bend
- The candidates should be able to clean the inside of vehicles when time permits and pick up/deliver units to commercial vendors, in the field, and other shops when requested
- The candidates should be able to tow or drive defective automotive equipment to a repair shop and ensure shop floors are consistently cleaned
- The candidates should be able to use Fleet Management System software (M5) for data entry and time entry and complete minor repairs to the entire range of City of Edmonton vehicles
- The candidates should be able to assist journeyman mechanics in the repair of automotive and construction equipment and provide training/mentorship to new Auto Service Persons
- The candidates should be able to lubricate, transport, and provide general service to a complete range of automotive, heavy truck, light truck, turf and small agricultural equipment, specialty units (ice resurfacer), construction equipment, components, and attachments common to municipal and utility fleets
- The candidates should be able to change light bulbs, lenses, fuses, signal light flashers, and windshield wiper blades and able to complete field servicing as assigned
- The candidates should be able to review and apply knowledge related to information from Branch operating manuals, Corporate, Department, and Branch procedural manuals, material safety data sheets, and safety handbooks to accurately service and order parts for assigned jobs
- The candidates should be able to be responsible for their own health and safety, along with co-workers and members of the public
- The candidates should be able to adhere to legislated requirements for environmental protection
