Salary: $17.50 to $20.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 40 hours per week

Shifts: Day, 07:30 to 17:30
Work setting: Child care centre
Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College/CEGEP or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Experience with special needs children: Children with behavioural issues, Children with Down syndrome, and Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), Child development worker (ECE level 2), and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Basic security clearance, and Vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be prepared for repetitive tasks and capable of physically demanding work
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout their workday

- The candidates should demonstrate punctuality in meeting deadlines and commitments, exhibit dependability in fulfilling their responsibilities, and be reliable in fulfilling their responsibilities

Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children and encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, and maintain daycare equipment while assisting in housekeeping and cooking duties
- The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, establish guidelines for behavior, and attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, and plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours while supervising and coordinating activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
