Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Child development supervisor (ECE level 3)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to handle repetitive tasks, manage physically demanding work, and maintain attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to work in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be punctual, dependable, and have efficient interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, and be flexible
  • The candidates should have interpersonal awareness, good judgment, and be reliable
  • The candidates should be a team player, have strong values and ethics, and be creative
  • The candidates should be honest and be able to multitask

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs, bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers, and develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment, engage in storytelling, and supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
  • The candidates should be able to synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents, assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity, and engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits, prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, and observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, and demonstrate knowledge of licensing regulations
  • The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behaviour, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children and supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
