Salary: $17.00 to $35.09 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 40 hours per week

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1) and Emergency child care first aid and CPR
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Immunization records and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be accustomed to performing repetitive tasks as part of their responsibilities and be physically fit to meet the demands of a physically demanding role
• The candidates should demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in tasks and assignments, be adaptable to a combination of sitting, standing, and walking during their work, and be proficient in tasks involving bending, crouching, and kneeling
• The candidates should possess manual dexterity for tasks requiring precision and skill

• The candidates should demonstrate punctuality, consistently arriving on time for work and commitments, and exhibit dependability by reliably fulfilling assigned tasks and responsibilities
• The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills for effective communication, demonstrate excellent oral communication skills, and showcase excellent written communication skills
• The candidates should show flexibility, adapting to changing circumstances and tasks, and have interpersonal awareness, understanding, and responding to others’ needs and emotions
• The candidates should be reliable, consistently meeting commitments and expectations, and be team players, collaborating effectively with colleagues
• The candidates should uphold values and ethics in their work and interactions, have the ability to multitask, managing multiple responsibilities concurrently, and display creativity in problem-solving and task execution

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers
• The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
• The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling
• The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers
• The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
• The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
• The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
• The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
• The candidates should be able to provide opportunities for children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
• The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
• The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
• The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
• The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisor
• The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
• The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
• The candidates should have knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act
• The candidates should have knowledge of licensing regulations
• The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behavior
• The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
• The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
• The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
• The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
