Salary: $17.40 to $18.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 50 to 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Seasonal employment Full time
Location: Vernon, BC
Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, To be determined, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence, Own transportation, Own vehicle, and Willing to travel regularly
Type of crops: Cherries

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Equipment and machinery experience: Farm truck, Fruit harvester, Loader, Tractor, Fertilizer applicator, Planting equipment, Sprayer or duster, and Tillage equipment
Automated systems experience: Automated irrigation system and Feeding and watering system

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should be efficient in interpersonal skills, be flexible, be able to demonstrate good judgment and be organized
• The candidates should be a team player

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to clean the crops, clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas, clear fields of wood and stones
• The candidates should be able to grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to the size, shape, colour and volume to fetch high price in market, guide growing shoots into optimal development positions, harvest seedlings
• The candidates should be able to mix fertilizer, plant, cultivate and irrigate crops, remove manually all suckers and water sprouts
• The candidates should be able to tie and secure plants, train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality, weed
• The candidates should be able to fertilize and spray crops, harvest crops, operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• The candidates should be able to examine product for quality and its readiness for the market, bud trees, cut horticultural crops

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
