Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should hold a certificate of qualification as a Commercial and Residential Painter and Decorator
Experience: Candidates should have up to 3.5 years of experience, which includes 1 year as a Painter’s Improver, to become proficient in all aspects of the work
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should issued by the Ontario Ministry of Skills Development This is normally obtained through a Grade 12 education and successful completion of the apprenticeship training program
- The candidate should have a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License, take instruction and pass the written and driving tests set by the Operations Training Centre for the required operation of Commission vehicles and forklift operation
- The candidate should have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements for passengers and employees
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to prepare and apply paint, wall covering, or other finishes to a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces such as plaster, drywall, wood, or metal using techniques like scraping, sanding, brushing, and spraying
- The candidates should be able to glaze windows and skylights and create engraved signs, set up and operate a computerized engraving machine and a bevelling machine for the manufacture of signs, and may install the signs upon completion
- The candidates should be able to drive a Commission vehicle to transport crew and equipment to various work locations, operate a forklift for loading and unloading material
