Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have plus a minimum of six months of workplace experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have experience as an Officer of the Court, experience in an administrative role working in a Courthouse
  • The candidate should have experience working in a legal environment in roles such as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Administrative Support
  • The candidate should have experience in office administration, experience in administrative support
  • The candidate should have experience working in a customer service role where they had to de-escalate situations

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to manage administrative processes in civil and criminal court proceedings
  • The candidate should be able to maintain court records and decorum, and operate the digital recording system
  • The candidate should be able to handle exhibits, liaise with the judiciary, lawyers, police, and the public
  • The candidate should be able to file documents in accordance with the Alberta Rules of Court and relevant statutes
  • The candidate should be able to assist the public and legal community both in-person and over the phone
  • The candidate should be able to perform data entry, process court orders, and complete general office duties
  • The candidate should be able to act as a non-presiding Justice of the Peace and conduct bail releases
  • The candidate should be able to perform Commissioner of Oaths duties after passing, manage databases and facilitate court appearances both in-person and online
