Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have experience servicing and/or making minor repairs to vehicles and operating light and/or heavy-duty equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to be physically capable of performing all of the required job duties that include, lifting/carrying 0-25kg, walking on rough terrain, sitting and standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating vehicles, and wearing personal protective equipment
  • The candidates should be able to respond to work within 30 minutes of call
  • The candidates should be able to work extended hours, weekends, and statutory holidays, and be subject to call out on short notice, and working under adverse weather conditions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience performing manual duties
  • The candidates should have experience operating hand and power tools
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health & Risk Management is required
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently
  • The candidates should have the ability to work as part of a team
  • The candidates should have strong interpersonal communication skills are essential
  • The candidates should have experience operating light and/or heavy-duty equipment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should be able to possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence with the ability to upgrade to a Class 3 with air brake endorsement within 6 months
  • The candidates should be able to report to the Area Works Supervisor and receive lead hand direction from the Assistant Works Supervisor
  • The candidates should be able to operate and maintain maintenance equipment, small hand and power tools
  • The candidates should be able to perform physical maintenance work associated with highway maintenance activities to ensure the safety of workers and the traveling public while maintaining public infrastructure
