Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have experience servicing and/or making minor repairs to vehicles and operating light and/or heavy-duty equipment

Physical Requirements:

The candidates should be able to be physically capable of performing all of the required job duties that include, lifting/carrying 0-25kg, walking on rough terrain, sitting and standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating vehicles, and wearing personal protective equipment
The candidates should be able to respond to work within 30 minutes of call
The candidates should be able to work extended hours, weekends, and statutory holidays, and be subject to call out on short notice, and working under adverse weather conditions

Other Requirements:

The candidates should have experience performing manual duties
The candidates should have experience operating hand and power tools
The candidates should have knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health & Risk Management is required
The candidates should have the ability to work independently
The candidates should have the ability to work as part of a team
The candidates should have strong interpersonal communication skills are essential
The candidates should have experience operating light and/or heavy-duty equipment

Responsibilities:

The candidates should be able to legally entitled to work in Canada
The candidates should be able to possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence with the ability to upgrade to a Class 3 with air brake endorsement within 6 months
The candidates should be able to report to the Area Works Supervisor and receive lead hand direction from the Assistant Works Supervisor
The candidates should be able to operate and maintain maintenance equipment, small hand and power tools
The candidates should be able to perform physical maintenance work associated with highway maintenance activities to ensure the safety of workers and the traveling public while maintaining public infrastructure
