Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 7 years nursing experience in a variety of acute and community healthcare settings

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to work independently
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills
  • The candidates should move quickly and efficiently throughout healthcare facilities, attending to patients in various settings. This includes walking, standing, and possibly assisting in emergency situations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess advanced assessment skills in a variety of clinical settings, preferably in emergency, pediatrics, maternal-child, general medicine/surgery, and critical care
  • The candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in nurse teletriage
  • The candidates should have experience in leading teams, adult education, and coaching
  • The candidates should have an excellent ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, staff, and management
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent organizational skills and a strong ability to handle sensitive and ethical issues
  • The candidates should possess the ability to work in an evolving environment and a commitment to working in a team environment
  • The candidates should have completed an accredited nursing education program and Registered Nurse with Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
  • The candidates should hold current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide contact centre, clinical, and operational support in real time to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Tobacco Counselors, Navigation Agents (Information and Referral and Central Access), and operations clerical staff
  • The candidates should be able to provide immediate support to staff, responsible for day-to-day problem-solving related to staffing, technology, and business processes
  • The candidates should be able to support Quality and Safety activities through participation in staff education sessions and call assessment and coaching of nursing staff and delivery of safe, effective, and appropriate service
  • The candidates should be able to provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being
  • The candidates should be able to play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
  • The candidates should be able to utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
