Canadian National Exhibition (CNE)’s Gaming Garage and Kids World Program offer immersive experiences for all ages. Gaming Garage showcases the latest in gaming technology through tournaments and interactive exhibits. Meanwhile, Kids World provides educational and entertaining activities tailored for children. It enhance the CNE’s appeal, drawing gaming enthusiasts and families each year, solidifying its position as a premier summer attraction in Toronto. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work effectively in a team and take initiative in their work and adaptability to changing situations
  • The candidates should work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should be available to work all 18 days of the fair and meet the minimum age requirement of 14 years
  • The candidates should be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and Labour Day
  • The candidates should have the ability to stand for extended periods of time and ability to walk for extended periods of time
  • The candidates should be willing to dress in appropriate uniform attire

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an outgoing and friendly disposition, reliable and responsible and possess strong communication and customer service skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate patience, comfortable with technology and encouraged to outline their various extra-curricular activities, interests, and hobbies on their application
  • The candidates should be able to attend mandatory Orientation Session and Job-Specific Training
  • The candidates should be comfortable with the possibility of low or flashing lights and high noise volumes and experience with FIRST Robotics as a team participant or event volunteer
  • The candidates should be comfortable instructing and facilitating technical activities such as driving robots, taking photos using mobile devices, and using Silent Disco headphones
  • The candidates should be comfortable following instructions for the maintenance of technologies such as retro gaming consoles, PCs, FIRST Robotics, and other gaming-related programs
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong customer service skills, strong communication skills, possess event coordination skills, exhibit problem-solving skills and demonstrate self-motivation skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform daily setup, operation, and tear down of program areas
  • The candidates should be able to supervise the area to ensure safe operation and to prevent theft, loss, and breakage and engage guests to participate in the activity or program
  • The candidates should be able to ensure adequate availability and quantity of activity supplies, and restock
  • The candidates should be able to maintain and keep program areas properly cleaned and presentable at all times
  • The candidates should be able to answer basic questions from the general public regarding programming, attractions, facilities, and services, such as the location of washrooms, bank machines, food vendors, Found Children, and First Aid services
  • The candidates should be able to perform miscellaneous duties related to the operations of the area
