Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have 6 months to 1 year of security experience, with previous security experience in a health care setting
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be available to work 12-hour shifts on a 24-hour rotating basis and on weekends
- The candidates should be a motivated team player with a positive service-oriented approach
- The candidates should have the ability to respond to emergencies as they arise while remaining calm and in control of the situation
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have and the completion of a 2-year recognized Community College Law Enforcement Program
- The candidates should provide documentation of a clean Criminal Record and must be licensed under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005
- The candidates should have strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated sensitivity toward clients experiencing mental health challenges
- The candidates should have a fundamental understanding of computers and software applications
- The candidates should be able to work with minimal supervision, problem-solve, and exercise good judgment in varied situations
- The candidates should have knowledge of fire and emergency response procedures, and W.H.M.I.S, be bilingual (French and English) and proficient in a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to monitor and control the movement of patients, staff, and visitors through the perimeter of the unit
- The candidates should be able to provide both interior and perimeter security measures for the inpatient unit by means of surveillance and documentation, be responsible for personal alarm and key control
- The candidates should be able to occasionally perform security checks of the unit perimeter and safety/security equipment on the unit, work rotating day, evening, and night shifts
- The candidates should be able to support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and effective communication
- The candidates should be able to comply with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements, work at the specified location, 1001 Queen Street West
