Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a four year post-secondary study
Experience: Candidates should have five years of progressive, responsible experience preferably in an educational institution
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be available to work overtime, be motivated and possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to participate in and effectively lead teams
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have thorough knowledge of academic policies and regulations and the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative to solve problems on a daily basis
- The candidates should possess excellent organizational skills and some supervisory experience, as well as the ability to identify and set priorities
- The candidates should have advanced written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- The candidates should be able to exercise tact, diplomacy, and discretion when working with students and others
- The candidates should have knowledge of current university software applications, systems, databases, and office software
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to administer the day-to-day operations of student services with minimal supervision
- The candidates should be able to take on the role of Team Leader, coordinating work teams, managing workloads, and resolving conflicts to ensure efficient service delivery to students
- The candidates should be able to plan, coordinate, and schedule all First Contact Service Activities
- The candidates should be able to ensure the Student Services team remains current and effective in all aspects of communication with students
- The candidates should be able to ensure that service standards are being met while working within established guidelines
- The candidates should be able to provide advice and support in all aspects of student services, including detailed explanations and interpretations of academic regulations, university policies, and procedures
- The candidates should be able to lead effective work teams and uphold office service standards
- The candidates should be able to understand and oversee the functional operations of the Office and other university support services, such as Accounts Receivable, Awards Office, Student Academic Success Centre, Graduate Studies, Housing, and Academic Units
