Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in Customs operations

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to work shifts and extended hours and possess an investigative nature and be self-motivated
  • The candidates should prepare customs documentation for the expeditious release of goods in the destination country
  • The candidates should be adaptable, with the ability to shift focus given changing priorities and time constraints
  • The candidates should be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time of any employment offer, ensuring they meet all necessary requirements for work permits, visas, or other authorizations
  • The candidates should be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances as required by the work location
  • The candidates should refer to the Transport Canada site or equivalent regulatory authority for detailed clearance requirements and ensure compliance

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should liaise effectively with other warehouse locations, departments, customers, manufacturer representatives, and internal personnel
  • The candidates should possess strong analytical skills and a keen interest and ability to work with data and demonstrate proficiency with PC tools, including Word, Excel, and MS Outlook
  • The candidates should exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and be a collaborative team player
  • The candidates should have good organizational skills and a strong awareness of precision and knowledge of logistics operations and maintenance programs and use tools such as TRAX, Visual Importer, and Export Declaration Manager
  • The candidates should ensure that the chosen routing method aligns with Strategic Purchasing and Logistics contracts and route structures
  • The candidates should ensure compliance with all regulations imposed by both home and foreign governments
  • The candidates should assign classification numbers to commodities following legal and regulatory guidance from the Harmonized Tariff, Explanatory Notes, and Departmental Memoranda, under the guidance of a Manager or Lead Technical Data Controller – Customs
