Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have 1 year of data entry experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to sit with arms unsupported while performing data entry
  • The candidates should be comfortable with repetitive motions during data entry
  • The candidates should be capable of meeting payroll and finance deadlines and work in office setting environment
  • The candidates should have the ability to focus on a variety of source data and computer screens for long periods

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to understand and discuss job-related matters
  • The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in maintaining accurate records
  • The candidates should be capable of data entry at 15,000 keystrokes per hour
  • The candidates should have a working level operation of current City of Victoria software and other relevant programs

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare and enter daily timesheets from all sections within Public Works, reconcile purchase cards, and provide back-up to clerical functions
  • The candidates should be able to collect, verify, and reconcile data from Public Works’ hourly employees’ daily timesheets; bring source information discrepancies to the attention of supervisors for correction and application of pay coding; process time entry accurately in City web application
  • The candidates should be able to reconcile purchase card statements to receipts submitted by employees; confirm accuracy of GST rebate and enter pertinent information from vendor invoices into City purchase card web application; batch and forward to Finance Department
  • The candidates should be able to perform related duties where qualified
