Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last 3 years
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs; shift lengths vary depending on events at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers and may include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, with some shifts ranging from 8 to 11 hours
- The candidates should be aware that no long-haul or cross-border driving, the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), and pulling or pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) on a wheeled platform.
- The candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to a culture of mutual respect and integrity
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Manitoba Class 4 driver’s license and provide a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days, communicate effectively in English; a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers traveling with them
- The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order and accurately complete all required documentation
- The candidates should be able to assist the collections team by greeting donors and helping them book or rebook appointments
- The candidates should be able to assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing their familiarity with technology and ability to learn new programs
- The candidates should be able to work with staff to carry, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies, as well as load and unload them at donor centre sites and upon return to the centre
