Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be comfortable with bending, crouching, and kneeling

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate punctuality and dependability, possessing efficient interpersonal skills and showing flexibility
  • The candidates should have interpersonal awareness and exhibit reliability, being team players who uphold values and ethics
  • The candidates should demonstrate creativity and honesty, along with the ability to multitask

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assess children’s development and prepare tailored learning plans, and develop and implement child-care programs supporting physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators in program implementation and engage children through storytelling, songs, local trips, and creative activities
  • The candidates should be able to guide children in developing eating, dressing, and toilet habits, observe for learning or behavioral issues, and report to parents or supervisors
  • The candidates should have knowledge of licensing regulations, establish behavior guidelines, and attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress
  • The candidates should establish collaborative relationships, plan a secure environment, organize activities for school-age children, and supervise other educators and assistants
