Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed an accredited practical nurse education program
Experience: Candidates should have 1 to 2 years of acute care experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the physical capability to perform all aspects of the role, including the ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs
  • The candidates should have demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families, and team members

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and a practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • The candidates should have current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • The candidates should have basic computer skills and strong leadership and critical thinking skills, demonstrated by the ability to direct other healthcare workers, problem-solve, and escalate clinical concerns in a timely and appropriate manner
  • The candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills and must be committed to patient and family-centered care
  • The candidates should successfully complete Neuroscience Orientation Classes and achieve a minimum pass rate of 80% on the Neurosciences Exam to enter the Program
  • The candidates should be responsible for providing proof of active registration with the CLPNA and maintaining registration throughout the duration of employment
  • The candidates should have 1 to 2 years of Neuroscience experience and Connect Care-related experience

  • The candidates should be able to utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making
  • The candidates should be able to teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
  • The candidates should be able to play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to provide safe, quality, patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
  • The candidates should be able to work as part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • The candidates should be able to be guided by their education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to play a key role in providing safe, quality, patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
