Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Degree or graduate studies in public administration, political science, business administration, law, or a related field
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience analyzing and developing policies, briefing materials and publications

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be prepared for occasional travel within the territory
  • The candidates should expect extended periods of time working at a desk, including extended screen time working with computers and other devices
  • The candidates should be aware that a 12-month eligibility list will be established from this competition

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have considerable experience planning and providing strategic direction and recommendations to senior management on complicated subjects and issues
  • The candidates should have experience working on inter-agency working groups and experience working with boards or committees
  • The candidates should be self-starters, strategic thinkers, and leaders who are highly organized and detail-oriented
  • The candidates should have the ability to promote the establishment, development, and application of positive organizational values, ethics, and standards of conduct
  • The candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills capable of conveying clear, concise briefings and presentations that communicate highly technical issues in simple (non-technical) language
  • The candidates should have Good judgment, weighing analytical evidence before proposing recommendations and have the capacity to effectively adapt through changing environments
  • The candidates should have experience developing policies in a regulatory or natural resources environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to engage in research, analysis, and the development of policy on behalf of the Yukon Water Board
  • The candidates should be able to provide policy advice and guidance on license improvement initiatives and emerging issues
  • The candidates should be able to help manage Board planning processes, preparing briefing materials, drafting, and vetting publications and promotional materials
  • The candidates should be able to represent the Board on working groups and meetings and other initiatives at the request of the Director of the Water Board Secretariat
  • The candidates should be able to thrives in a fast-paced role and is excited to be a part of a team supporting an administrative tribunal
  • The candidates should be able to hold themselves to a high standard, pay close attention to detail, and have impeccable written and oral communication skills
  • The candidates should be able to build positive, professional, and high-trust relationships, working to engage clients and stakeholders at every opportunity
