Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have relevant post-secondary education in accounting and/or finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in oil and gas and quarry mineral production and royalty accounting and that they become an expert in this area
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- The candidates should have an operational understanding of accounting standards, preferably Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), and demonstrated experience working with accounting principles/concepts and adhering to accounting policies
- The candidates should have experience developing and monitoring financial processes and internal controls/financial systems, interpreting and applying policies, statutes, and legislation, and/or conducting audits and reviews to assess compliance, make recommendations, and improve existing processes
- The candidates should possess strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines and have extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on MS Excel including manipulating data, using complex formulas, macros, and pivot tables
- The candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, senior management, other government departments, and agencies as well as Petroleum and Quarry clients
- The candidates should have the ability to influence and collaborate with staff at all levels and should possess effective verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver information in a clear and organized manner to a wide variety of audiences. Data mining skills
- The candidates should have experience with SAP financial management modules or other complex financial systems
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure the accuracy of deposits and general ledger through the collection and reconciliation of cash receipts in the branch
- The candidates should be able to collect revenue in the form of royalties, taxes, fees, and levies for the Mining, Oil, and Gas branch
- The candidates should be able to oversee the collection of large amounts of performance deposits with the intention of returning them to clients after certain conditions are met
- The candidates should be able to maintain adequate record-keeping to reconcile large payments to internal and external systems and client records within the branch
