Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Social Work
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience working with families (0-6 years)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of lifting and carrying bags (toys, supplies) and lifting children weighing 10-15 pounds on a daily basis and perform bending and kneeling while working with children during daily home visits
  • The candidates should be prepared to navigate stairs in and within homes and assist children with mobility, including lifting children in and out of car seats and be aware of potential exposure to accident and health hazards Tuberculosis, Hepatitis C, HIV due to client interaction on a daily basis
  • The candidates should utilize multiple senses for nonverbal communication, parent/child interaction, observation skills for unusual signs and symptoms of illness, and assessing the physical environment on a daily basis
  • The candidates should provide support for families who may exhibit emotions such as anger, frustration, anxiety, depression, or other challenging behaviors on a daily basis
  • The candidates should be capable of working independently and conducting home visits, understanding that unpredictable situations may arise on a daily basis and be comfortable working in cross-cultural settings with clients who may have different value systems and languages on a daily basis

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, data entry, and Excel
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and possess effective interviewing and assessment skills
  • The candidates should be capable of working independently and in a cross-cultural setting in a non-judgmental manner
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively as a member of a community care team and consider the ability to speak an Indigenous language
  • The candidates should have the ability to speak in group settings and facilitate discussions
  • The candidates should demonstrate assessment skills and the ability to make appropriate referrals

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform administrative duties, including regular program reporting, documentation, and participation in regular knowledge-sharing forums
  • The candidates should be able to engage one-to-one with families to address their unique concerns and help them achieve their goals
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate family-centered assessment, goal setting, and service planning to provide trauma-informed and family-driven supports
  • The candidates should be able to provide parents and caregivers with evidence-informed, culturally safe parenting and child development information to strengthen parental roles and build healthy child environments
  • The candidates should be able to support families in strengthening protective factors associated with positive outcomes for all children
  • The candidates should be able to emphasize community participation and connection to culture in all service streams
  • The candidates should be able to support family relationships and connections to healthcare, community, and cultural resources
