Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a bachelor’s degree in a Computer or Information Systems related field
Experience: Candidates should have at least two years of application experience and systems analyst skills
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should work independently with minimal supervision
- The candidates should work with teachers, principals, school secretaries, and central office staff
- The candidates should provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a working knowledge of the council’s telecommunications resources as it is an integral part of the communication system
- The candidates should have experience supporting wireless network access and the associated protocols
- The candidates should also have experience working in schools or school boards
- The candidates should possess the ability to support users of all levels of ability, ranging from novice to expert
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, plan, and effectively implement a change initiative throughout the organization
- The candidates should have the ability to listen, understand, and respond effectively to other people, as well as help or serve people to meet their needs
- The candidates should have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and travel by car and on small airplanes
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to service and maintain computer operation and equipment for all BDEC schools in addition to the central office in Inuvik
- The candidates should be able to assist in the acquisition of new hardware and software, ensuring proper documentation and submission of related financial reports
- The candidates should be able to interact in person, by electronic mail, and by telephone on a daily basis with Beaufort-Delta Education Council staff, other government departments, and non-government agencies to assist staff with the functionality and operation of various PC-based hardware and software applications utilized by the central office and schools
