Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field of study (mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering) or a combination of equivalent education and experience
Experience: Candidates should have 8+ years of experience in big data mining techniques
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should exhibit rigor in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
- The candidates should possess strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- The candidates should have good scripting and programming skills to integrate newly developed Machine Learning solutions with existing applications
- The candidates should be result-oriented, self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in the use of query languages such as SQL
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to act as a subject matter expert in data science, encompassing data mining, data analytics, machine learning, deep learning, applicable algorithms, software tools, and others and lead the data science practice within Supply Chain operations, educating the organization on best practices and promoting the adoption of data science concepts
- The candidates should be able to lead the discovery of information hidden in Hydro One’s vast amounts of Operational Data, making smarter decisions to deliver an even better customer experience and focus on applying data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and building high-quality prediction systems integrated with Hydro One’s existing applications
- The candidates should be able to collect, process, cleanse, organize, and verify the integrity of Hydro One’s Operational Data for analysis purposes and mine Hydro One’s Operational Data using state-of-the-art methods, utilizing Speech Analytics, Microsoft Azure tools, and capabilities
- The candidates should be able to select features, build, and optimize classifiers using Machine Learning techniques and extend Hydro One’s Operational Data with third-party sources of information when and where needed
- The candidates should be able to enhance Hydro One’s Operational Data collection procedures to include information relevant for building analytic systems and create automated anomaly detection systems and performance tracking systems
- The candidates should be able to perform other duties as required and possess essential competencies, including a demonstrated understanding of Data Science techniques and their applications in electric utilities and customer service systems and processes
- The candidates should be able to have a demonstrated ability to implement various supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning techniques to solve engineering/operational problems and make data-driven business decisions
- The candidates should be able to have technical experience in exploring the realms of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Neural Networks, applied to areas such as power grid operations, asset management, and capital asset planning
- The candidates should be able to possess strong foundations in Python Libraries, Mathematics, and Statistics Foundations for Data Science and be knowledgeable in Exploratory Data Analysis for visualization and batch correction
- The candidates should be able to build a portfolio of Use-Cases demonstrating Hydro One’s competencies in extracting business insights from operational data and demonstrate proficiency in Data Clustering and have knowledge of the theory behind Recommendation Engines, exploring their applications to Hydro One’s business context
