Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have good working knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) systems in general and specifically the use of Bentley Microstation software, as well as Microsoft Office computer applications.
- The candidates should have good drafting, detail design, and technical report writing skills, as well as good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have or university degree in a related discipline structural or civil engineering technology), along with related experience or should have a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent, possess a university degree in civil engineering, possess structural design and drafting experience related to transit structures
- The candidates should have knowledge of structural engineering design principles, methods, and practices for the design and construction of transit-related structures made of reinforced concrete, structural steel, pre-stressed concrete, masonry, timber, and other structures
- The candidates should have knowledge of the properties of construction materials, knowledge of the procedures and techniques for writing technical specifications
- The candidates should be familiar with applicable provincial and national codes, regulations, and standards that govern structural design, such as the OBC, NBC, CHBDC, CSA S16-01, CSA A23.1/2/3
- The candidates should possess a valid Province of Ontario Class G Driver’s licence, along with the use of their own vehicle for occasional project site visits
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide engineering support and design expertise for the section’s design work related to TTC’s transit facilities and structures
- The candidates should be able to prepare structural drawings for various projects in accordance with TTC Design Standards, applicable codes, engineers’ notes, sketches, verbal instructions, and design concepts, assist in preparing project specifications and contribute to the production of complete construction design documents
- The candidates should be able to liaise and coordinate with other design disciplines to ensure coherence and consistency of information in preliminary and final project designs, check the quality of production by Design Draftspersons and structural layout drawings for station structures and TTC facilities
- The candidates should be able to assist in developing design concepts, specifications, and standard/directive drawings, and in preparing field visit reports, feasibility studies, work plans, and progress reports
- The candidates should be able to review and interpret existing conditions, drawings, specifications, and material submissions and obtain additional data as necessary for accurate and compliant drawings and specifications
- The candidates should be able to visit and inspect TTC facilities, track levels, or construction project sites to assess progress, record existing conditions, and assist in preparing work plans, collect field inspection data and participate in interdisciplinary meetings to exchange design information with other disciplines
- The candidates should be able to provide construction support by reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor requests for information, support Operations Department activities
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment, free from discrimination and harassment
- The candidates should be able to help remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC policies, participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program
