Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a Post Secondary Diploma in Human Resources
Experience: Candidates should have 4 years of progressively responsible experience in employee and labour relations, job evaluation, and organizational design
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to use their knowledge of job evaluation and compensation principles to advise leaders on proposed changes to positions and organizational structure
- The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education and experience and experience in a unionized environment
- The candidates should have a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to identify and resolve employee and labour relations issues, considering collective agreements, internal policies, established practices, applicable legislation, operational needs, and organizational values
- The candidates should be able to partner with leaders to solve problems, promote optimal employee and organizational outcomes, balance risks, and strengthen relationships and interpret collective agreements, legislation, policies, and practices
- The candidates should be able to advise on performance management and attendance improvement approaches and strategies and facilitate fact-finding investigations in partnership with exempt leaders
- The candidates should be able to take conduct of grievance procedures, advising management through the meeting, response, and resolution processes and support collective bargaining processes
- The candidates should be able to evaluate new and revised positions using the corresponding evaluation plan for unionized positions and build the capacity and capabilities of people leaders through partnership and consultation
- The candidates should be able to participate on job evaluation committees and provide input to workforce planning initiatives and facilitate leadership training related to employee or labour relations
- The candidates should be able to respond to new or changing policy and legislation, including the development of standardized procedures, guidelines, and associated training
- The candidates should be able to contribute to the Department’s operational and strategic objectives on an ongoing basis and implement improvements in HR and related business practices
