Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Master’s in Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a member of an interprofessional team
  • The candidates should be flexible with their working hours

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and be registered as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class [RN(EC)] with a specialty certificate in either Adult or Primary Care, and possess a current BCLS certification
  • The candidates should preferably possess, be currently pursuing, or have a related graduate degree. CNA certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse
  • The candidates should have 2 years of demonstrated expertise in working with clients with mental health issues and addiction issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to effectively and professionally carry out the responsibilities of the role, including establishing and maintaining effective therapeutic relationships with complex clients
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with demonstrated knowledge of mental health and addictions issues and extensive knowledge of the clinical standards related to the scope of practice of Nurse Practitioners
  • The candidates should be able to work with clients from diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds
  • The candidates should possess excellent presentation skills to lead workshops and participate in health teaching and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure excellence in client care, education, and research
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should have proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, electronic communication, and workload measures
  • The candidates should have Bilingualism (French and English) or proficiency in a second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to engage in providing episodic virtual appointments to clients requiring mental health assessments and treatment
  • The candidates should be able to provide expert consultation to clients or members of the interprofessional team and plan, implement, and evaluate direct care for clients
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership to the healthcare team regarding the direction of care services for patients and their families
  • The candidates should be able to work autonomously and accountably in communicating diagnoses, prescribing medications, and ordering a range of diagnostic tests
  • The candidates should be able to lead and manage crisis response, including suicide risk assessment, demonstrating knowledge of the Mental Health Act
  • The candidates should be able to practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario practice standards, the Canadian Nurses’ Association Advanced Practice Nursing Framework, and with all applicable legislative requirements
  • The candidates should be able to support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements
