Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess a current B.C.L.S. (CPR)
Experience: Candidates should have two years of nursing experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have preferred experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing and experience within an outpatient setting
  • The candidates should have specific experience in psychiatric assessments and possess effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should have proven organizational skills and the ability to facilitate work within a collaborative, inter-professional environment
  • The candidates should be able to make behavioral observations, conduct mental status assessments, monitor clients’ responses to pharmaceutical and care interventions, and maintain documentation and ongoing communication with other team members
  • The candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team and a strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing and addiction issues and the Mental Health Act
  • The candidates should have experience working with individuals from diverse ethno-cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and computer literacy
  • The candidates should be bilingual (French or English) and proficient in a second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to coordinate care as the primary worker for multiple clients while supporting the team’s registered clients and contributing in a discipline-specific role, perform assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate the inter-professional plan of care for clients
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with clients’ social and community networks and assess new referrals to the program, liaise with other services in the Complex Care and Recovery Program and community agencies to ensure coordinated care for clients
  • The candidates should be able to work in partnership with clients, their formal and informal supports, and the team to facilitate successful client integration into their communities and follow clients requiring hospitalization, planning, and coordinating services with inpatient care teams
  • The candidates should be able to work with clients from diverse populations, contribute to program development, and participate in clinical supervision and provide education, support, and supervision to students and engage in the research activities of the program
  • The candidates should be able to make behavioral observations, conduct mental status and physical assessments, monitor clients’ responses to interventions, document findings, and maintain ongoing communication with team members
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, recovery, concurrent disorders, and severe and persistent mental illness
  • The candidates should be able to support and contribute to a healthy workplace environment that embraces diversity, fosters teamwork, and complies with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • The candidates should be able to work evening and weekend hours based on operational and clinical, primarily work at 10 White Squirrel Way, with flexibility to be redeployed to 250 College Street to support the Downtown East or Central clinic
