Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a University degree in Finance/Accounting or a business-related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have 2-3 years of corporate tax experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have CPA accounting designation or be working towards completion
  • The candidate should have completed CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course or be willing to complete it
  • The candidate should have solid knowledge of income tax law and administration, financial accounting principles and practices, and the Company and industry operations
  • The candidate should have the ability to review and analyze complex accounting entries
  • The candidate should have experience with and working knowledge of the Income Tax Act
  • The candidate should have proven analytical, problem-solving, and accounting skills
  • The candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • The candidate should have strong organizational skills and a commitment to attention to detail
  • The candidate should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Taxprep
  • The candidate should have strong research skills and experience using tax research platforms such as Taxnet Pro and EY Canadian Tax Library, which are preferred
  • The candidate should possess working knowledge of Peoplesoft is considered an asset for the candidate

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to account for income taxes, including the preparation of quarterly tax reconciliations and year-end tax provision
  • The candidate should be able to prepare corporate and partnership tax returns and other tax filings on a timely basis
  • The candidate should continuously seek efficiencies to streamline tax compliance processes
  • The candidate should assist in federal and provincial income tax audits, including resolving related tax disputes
  • The candidate should research and assist on issues, as assigned, by examining specific tax legislation and court decisions, and relevant publications to identify available options and determine recommended tax treatments
  • The candidate should stay current on income tax changes, analyze the implications of any changes to federal and provincial tax rules, published rulings, interpretations, and court cases
  • The candidate should prepare schedules to support various tax attributes
  • The candidate should prepare tax installment schedules by comparing expected and previous taxes payable while ensuring accurate and timely tax payments as required by the relevant legislation
  • The candidate should liaise with other business units and provide tax support as needed
  • The candidate should perform other corporate tax-related duties as required
