Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of medication administration certification
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) at the HealthCare Provider Level
  • The candidates should have completed an RPN education preparation program that includes medication administration and proficient computer literacy
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable them to develop the Nurse-Client therapeutic relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team
  • The candidates should preferably have completed a College program and possess recent and strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing and addiction issues
  • The candidates should have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behavior
  • The candidates should be self-directed team players who are highly organized with excellent critical thinking skills
  • The candidates should have experience working with individuals from diverse ethno-cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • The candidates should note that bilingualism (French and English) and proficiency in a second language
  • The candidates should have sound knowledge of severe and persistent mental illness and schizophrenia, addictions, crisis intervention, recovery model, and therapeutic groups

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care to clients in different stages of their recovery journey
  • The candidates should be able to respond to client care needs using a safe, respectful, and dignified approach, ensuring the safety and security of the client care environment
  • The candidates should be able to practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario professional standards, the CAMH Practice Model of Care, CAMH policies and procedures, and other relevant legislation and regulations
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with the care team to perform ongoing clinical assessments, utilize evidence-based interventions, and develop, implement, and evaluate the inter-professional plan of client care to address multiple health care priorities
  • The candidates should be able to utilize critical thinking, a problem-solving process, and customer service in their approach to care and service delivery
  • The candidates should be able to work with patients from diverse backgrounds, contribute to program development, and provide educational support and supervision to students
  • The candidates should be able to make behavioral observations, perform assessments (including mental status and physical exams), monitor and evaluate patients’ response to pharmaceutical and other care interventions, document clearly, and communicate consistently and timely with other team members
  • The candidates should be able to support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, promotes learning, and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements
