- The candidates should have knowledge of cataloguing principles and procedures and analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- The candidates should have knowledge of current cataloguing rules and standards, including Library of Congress classification schedules and subject headings, RDA, FRBR, AACR2R, MARC formats
- The candidates should have knowledge of online databases, integrated library systems, LibGuides or equivalent, library application software, and discovery services
- The candidates should have computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- The candidates should have knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge related to, college and university-level research methods and applications
- The candidates should have interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate appropriately, professionally, and courteously, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to interpret and apply current international and local cataloguing and classification standards Library of Congress classification and subject headings, Canadian subject headings, AACR2R, RDA, FRBR and MARC21 to ensure an accurate inventory and efficient retrieval by users
- The candidates should be able to search, select, and retrieve cataloguing records to import into the integrated library system, and edit records to meet consortium and internal policies
- The candidates should be able to provide subject analysis and classification, and create original bibliographic records in consultation with the Manager
- The candidates should be able to upload catalogue records and other data to various library platforms
- The candidates should be able to maintain the integrity and consistency of cataloguing records
- The candidates should be able to deaccession library materials under the direction of the Manager and assist with the development of cataloguing procedures
- The candidates should be able to ensure the processing of library materials for shelf placement, which includes running the label report, applying barcodes and spine labels, and performing other related tasks
- The candidates should be able to develop search strategies and assist library users in effectively searching print and digital resources, referring requests to the Manager when out of scope
- The candidates should be able to assist in the development and delivery of online tutorials and training sessions, and with the integration of information literacy into library guides and the LMS
- The candidates should be able to provide distance library services to Aurora College Community Learning Centres and students in online and virtual classes
