Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or Intermediate or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience using the IIS platform, X.eye, and ECIF, sufficient to support risk activities and provide coaching from a risk perspective

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be a certified professional with successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), Branch Manager’s Course, and Effective Management Seminar within 30 months of hire or a willingness to obtain IIROC Branch Manager accreditation
  • The candidate should possess well-developed knowledge of CIBC internal and external regulatory risk policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with IIROC and financial planning business. Knowledge of Portfolio Advisor regulations and standards would be an asset. Experience within Private Wealth Management would be an asset

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to serve as the registered and accountable Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) Branch Manager for ISI CIRO registered Private Banking branches or have held previous MFDA or CIRO registration in a similar capacity
  • The candidates should be able to act as the accountable Branch Manager Delegate for CIBC Private Investment Counsel (CPIC) registered branches with the Provincial Securities Commissions across Canada in the category of Portfolio Manager/Advisor, including the CPIC Wealth Strategists group
  • The candidates should be able to, be accountable for managing and executing all day-to-day Tier I in-branch regulatory supervisory oversight and activities for several Lines of Business (LOBs) under Private Wealth
  • The candidates should be able to, be responsible for applying different securities regulations (portfolio manager/advisor regulations, CIRO, MFDA, AML, trust and estates, financial planning standards and regulations, etc.), ensuring ongoing regulatory and financial/investment advice compliance effectively meets industry guidelines in the assigned Provinces
  • The candidates should be able to manage and execute all day-to-day Tier I in-branch regulatory supervisory oversight, including the review and approval of new client accounts, onboarding documentation, portfolio asset allocation, Investment Policy Statement, KYC/suitability, corporate and trust documentation, POAs, articles of incorporation, by-laws/board resolutions, and authorities provided to signing officers
  • The candidates should be able to oversee the review and approval of new CPIC Foreign and US client accounts, ensuring compliance with securities regulations of the foreign jurisdiction or US State
  • The candidates should be able to manage and report on PWM’s New Client Enhanced Due Diligence and World Check client pre-onboarding process
  • As the CIRO BM and BM delegate for CPIC, the candidates should be able to be accountable for the management, supervision, and reporting of PWM LoBs’ complaint policies and processes, as well as manage outgoing correspondence
  • The candidates should be able to manage the end-to-end registration process of new PB ISI Registrants and CPIC Investment Counsellors/Associate Investment Counsellors, including handling notice of terminations and material changes within required timelines
  • The candidates should be able to work directly with registrants and Asset Management Wealth Registrations, particularly concerning CPIC Associate Investment Counsellor upgrades of registration to full Investment Counsellor status, ensuring the demonstration of ‘relevant investment management experience’ for submission to the appropriate provincial securities commission
  • The candidates should be able to manage audit preparedness activities and deliverables for internal audits/examinations for all PWM LOBs, serving as the primary interface for business with audit groups during audit field work
  • The candidates should be able to oversee Deficiency Management, including the engineering and execution of action plans and change management
  • The candidates should be able to continuously improve LOBs risk management & controls framework to optimize control levels, realize operational efficiencies, and improve the overall client experience
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership, direction, coaching, guidance, and training, as well as be responsible for providing strategic business and regulatory advice to PWM registrants and all frontline employees, including senior leadership, on business and regulatory issues and inquiries
  • The candidates should be able to handle complex related risk and compliance issues, utilizing strong partnering, influencing, and interpersonal skills to work with multiple LOBs and client groups
  • The candidates should be able to work with internal partners, including legal, compliance, and AML, on complex issues, including escalation and policy exceptions
