Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a post-secondary college diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience as a qualified Streetcar or Subway Operator
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have university degree in a related discipline or possess a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent
- The candidates should have or be able to obtain an Adult Teaching Certificate at a university or community college in Training and Development or equivalent within 3 years
- The candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of Rail Operating Rules and Regulations, procedures, and practices for Revenue/Non-Revenue vehicles
- The candidates should possess a valid Class G Driver’s Licence and have or obtain accreditation to certify and license employees through regulated training programs
- The candidates should demonstrate sound knowledge of pertinent policies, government legislation, Subway, SRT, Surface Rule Book Regulations, and union agreements
- The candidates should have thorough knowledge of adult education principles, instruction techniques, assessment methods, and program design methodologies
- The candidates should be effective in delivering a wide range of training programs to diverse groups in various settings, including classroom and on-site locations
- The candidates should exhibit excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, group facilitation, coaching, and leadership skills
- The successful candidates will remain in the Instructor position in the Operations Training Centre unless promoted to a higher-level role
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to deliver and evaluate transportation and maintenance-related training programs for employees, contractors, and consultants
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with others to develop new training programs and review and update existing ones
- The candidates should be able to educate staff through training sessions, monitor and evaluate their performance, and provide support for improvement
- The candidates should be able to coordinate, develop, and deliver departmental initiatives, ensuring program goals are met
- The candidates should be able to create, update, and manage training materials and resources, ensuring they are appropriately stored and disseminated
- The candidates should be able to plan, schedule, and facilitate programs, events, and tasks to achieve desired outcomes
- The candidates should be able to review and analyze submissions, qualifications, and documents, and approve or deny requests based on established criteria
- The candidates should be able to ensure that work adheres to safety regulations, organizational policies, and procedures
- The candidates should be able to promote and demonstrate behaviors that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work environment
- The candidates should be able to help remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers as per the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and organizational policies
