Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or Intermediate or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should possess strong experience in reporting on Indigenous issues and communities
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a passion for news and visual storytelling, understanding what makes a great story and knowing how to tell it
- The candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in local news of all kinds, including spot news and breaking news
- The candidates should be self-starters, willing to lead with curiosity and initiative
- The candidates should exhibit the ability to multi-task and deliver for multiple daily online and broadcast deadlines
- The candidates should be willing to work evenings and weekends as required
- The candidates should have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to generate story ideas and produce television news content for our newscasts and all-news streaming channels
- The candidates should be able to establish and/or maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and their peoples to find and tell stories that are important to those communities
- The candidates should be able to respond to local breaking news of all kinds, quickly and accurately
- The candidates should be able to work with local producers and editors, as well as other team members, to help produce episodes of the new CityNews prime-time news specials
